When one of the foremost creationist organizations attempted to prove that evolution is not scientific using reasonable criteria, educator and documentarian Shane Killian worked to set the record straight. Even as a non-scientist, he was easily able to find copious evidence for evolution and show that it is scientific, whereas creationism and Intelligent Design are not—using the very same criteria the creationists used. If you’ve ever had any doubts about the validity of the theory, this book should provide more than enough information (meticulously sourced for those seeking to verify its claims) to put them to rest, even in its brevity and plain-spoken manner, as it runs the gamut from planets to microbes, from the depths of the sea to the top of the world, in the human body itself, and even delving into the realm of the computer to show evolution in action all around us.

How Evolution Is Scientific Shane Killian

Its an easy read, I finished it in just a couple of hours. And, of what is there, is well written. Though I find myself wondering who the intended audience is? I for one can be insulting to Creationists, so I'm not one to talk. But, if he is expecting Creationists to read the book, then he should probably not be so insulting.

On the other hand, if his audience is other skeptics, while it is a fine diversion for a few hours, there probably isn't much here that informed skeptics don't already know. To be sure, if I hadn't already watched his video on the information added in the evolution of bacteria that eat nylon, then that would probably be new information to me. But since I already had, that was not new to me.

He says that the book uses Creationist arguments against them. And, true, he does. But the book is primarily a rebuttal to one specific Creationist article. Now, to be sure, the arguments in that article are common arguments, but, I would have liked to have seen him use more different sources of Creationist arguments.

Now, he does have at the back of the book a few appendixes, including a list of common Creationist arguments. Which isn't bad. But, talkorigins rebuttals to Creationist arguments is more complete, and easily accessed online.

So, its a nice, easy read for a few hours diversion. And if you haven't seen many of Shane's videos or other similar sources, maybe you might find some new information. But if you are reasonably versed already in the skeptical point of view, you may find it "old news" for the most part.

How Evolution Is Scientific Shane Killian Reviews

Using straightforward language, this book explains the basics of evolutionary theory and scientific inquiry. The most common arguments for creationism are refuted, although only briefly.
Fantastically well researched book. Differs from other books in this genre by having more sources printed. Goes well with many of the videos on Shane's shanedk channel on youtube.
